Meeting in Bangladesh Kicks off

Date posted: 16 September 2019 - A FISH Safety Foundation Initiative travelled to meet our partners on the ground in Mahipur, Southern Bangladesh. Working closely with Patuakhali Science and Technology University, one of the fastest growing public Universities in Bangladesh, we are bringing together the best minds to talk safety, training and collaboration.

During the course of the week, intensive discussions involved Vessel Owners, Fisher Associations and Government officials. Overall, a positive reaction toward re-FISH was greatly welcomed by all those involved.

“Most vessels did not have adequate life jackets available or other similar gears such as buoys. Makeshift devices were used such as empty plastic water containers or drums.”

Bangladesh represents a huge opportunity for donations to make an immeasurable impact on the well being of fishermen and their families in Bangladesh.
